"Gluteal amnesia."
It’s a real thing.
And quite common.
Especially among those of us who sit a lot.
Gluteal amnesia is when the muscles in your derriere become so weak from inactivity that they basically switch off.
They no longer fire.
They require jumper cables.
It’s also known as “dead butt syndrome.”
“Dead butt” throws off your entire structure, causing your ankles, knees, hips, back and shoulders to take on way more load than they’re structurally designed to bear.
Think hamstring tightness, sciatica, low back pain, shin splints, achilles tendinitis ….
I could go on.
Suffice to say, if you’re experiencing aches and pains, or recovering from a surgery (hip, knee, etc), strengthening your glutes will really help take pressure off other parts of your body. Weak glutes can set you up for injury!
And, hey! Feel free to check out my complimentary “20 Min Abs and Glutes” workout HERE.
